Evan et Papa

Evan and Papa went in the spa today (as they do almost every weekend--sometimes Elia and I join them). Evan can now swim short distances with his "wings"--those inflatable arm things. He can also jump in from the side of the pool, and doesn't mind going under water a little bit...like when his Papa throws him up in the air and lets him land under water. Despite Maman's nerves at watching Evan be scared at first, he seems to be learning how to swim rather quickly. I guess he's faster at getting over his fears than I am.

Evan et Papa sont alles au jacuzzi aujourd'hui (comme ils font presque tous les weekends--parfois Elia et moi, on les rejoint). Evan peut maintenant nager pendant des courtes distances avec ses "ailes"--ces bouées sur les bras. Il peut aussi sauter du bord de la piscine, et il n'as pas peur d'aller sous l'eau un peu...comme quand son Papa lui jete en l'air et le laisse tomber un peu sous l'eau. Malgres les nerfs de Maman qui regarde un Evan peureux au debut, il a l'air d'apprendre nager assez vite. Je suppose qu'il surmonte ses peurs plus vite que moi.

In other news, Elia pulled herself up to a standing position today for the first time! She's going to be walking in no time, I have a feeling...

Et la petite Elia maintenant peut se mettre debout toute seule (en utilisant la barriere du parc je veux dire), pour la premiere fois aujourd'hui! Elle va vite marcher, je crois...

Evan tries so hard to hold his little sister, to help her stand up, or to keep her on a toy train. They are just so adorable and sweet to each other!

Evan essaie beaucoup de tenir sa petite soeur, pour l'aider se mettre debout, ou de la garde sur un jouet de train. Ils sont tellement adorables et gentils ensemble!

Aujourd'hui etait la premiere fois qu'elle a marche a 4 pates. La maitresse a la creche me l'a dit, alors ce soir je l'ai mise par terre pour voir moi-meme. Papa et Maman applaudissaient quand elle traversait la piece, et Elia s'est mise assise, et elle a commence a applaudir aussi, pour elle-meme! Bravo ma petite minette!

Today was the first day she crawled. The caretaker at the daycare told me, so tonight I put her on the floor to see for myself. Papa and Mama clapped when she crawled, and Elia sat herself up and clapped loudly for herself! Bravo my little sweetie!

Tatie Jen et Tonton Shawn sont venus pour le weekend! Evan etait ravi, Elia aussi aimait etre avec eux--elle n'avait meme pas besoin de jouets.

Birthday weekend!

Ce weekend on a eu 2 fetes d'anniversaire...d'abord, Jeanne, la copine preferee d'Evan, nous a invite chez elle samedi. Et puis le petit Jeremy nous a invite dans un beau parc/club a San Francisco. Evan s'est beaucoup amuse...nous aussi! Elia etait tres sage. Aussi, aujourd'hui (le 7), c'est l'anniversaire de ma mere, "Grandma" pour Evan et Elia. Alors Evan a chante "Joyeux Anniversaire" au telephone a Grandma, sauf il voulait le chanter en francais...

This weekend we had 2 birthday parties....first, Jeanne, Evan's favorite girl friend, invited us to her place Saturday. Then little Jeremy invited us to a great park/clubhouse in San Francisco. Evan had a blast...as did we! Elia was very good. Also, today (the 7th) is my mom's birthday. So Evan sang "happy birthday" on the phone to Grandma, but he wanted to sing it in French...

First, Tim did the "Mummy game" with Jeanne, then the neighbor/friend.

While most kids were outside playing, there was some recreational drug use. That drug? Helium. Tim grabbed a balloon and yelled to the whole place, "Who wants to take some helium?!?!" Then he sucked in a bunch and spoke in a chipmunk voice. I would've done it too, but I had to rush the camera down to the playground to...

Pendant que la plupart d'enfants etaient dehors, il y avait des drogues dedans. La drogue? Helium. Tim a attrape un ballon et a crie a tout le monde, "Qui veut faire du helium?!?!" Puis il a respire beaucoup et a parle dans une voix aigue. J'aurais le faire, aussi, mais il fallait me depeche en bas dehors pour...

Oh, yeah, and to help me be de-stressed for the weekend, before any party, I had to run... Elia came with me, the first time in the jogging stroller without the car seat! We only did 3 miles running, plus half a mile walking...

Oh, et pour m'aider etre de-stresse pour le weekend, avant les fetes, je voulais courir... Elia est venue avec moi, la premiere fois dans la poussette sans le siege auto! On n'a fait que 5 km en courrant et 1 en marchant...
