Maman - Evan day

First, we went to the Nutcracker.  It was the first time for both of us!

D'abord, on est alle voir le Casse-Noisette.  C'etait la premiere fois pour nous deux!

 OK, yeah...he doesn't look too happy here.  He wanted to hurry and go to his seat!

Oui, il n'a pas l'air content ici.  Il voulait aller a son siege!

 Then, across the street, there was Christmas in the Park (San Jose), complete with carnival rides.  I went on all the spinny rides with Evan, and felt sick to my stomach.  He was screaming, "This is AWESOME!! AWESOME!!!" as I was turning green. 


Here he is on the teacups the second time, by himself.  The first time, I went with him, and I spun that thing so fast, without thinking that ...I'm old now.

Apres, juste a cote, il y avait "Christmas in the Park" a San Jose, avec des maneges.  Je suis allee avec Evan sur beaucoup de choses, et tout tournaient...beaucoup.  Je ne me sentais pas bien.  Lui, il criait, "Ouuuaaais, c'est COOL!!! Super COOL!!!" et moi, je devenais toute verte.

Voila Evan dans les tasses, la deuxieme fois, tout seul.  La premiere fois, je suis allee avec lui, et je la tournais vite comme une folle.  J'avais oublie que maintenant...je suis vieille.

De retour du Japon

Retour du Japon apres une semaine de "travail".

Depart dimanche dernier de SFO pour Osaka. De la, train pour Nara pour trois jours de conference (ICSSC) ou j'ai fait une presentation avec Mathieu et un client. Puis un jour a Kyoto. Et deux jours a Tokyo pour finir.

Un beau voyage! Plein de contrastes et de decouvertes.

Desole, je suis bien plus faineant que Karen. Voila un lien sur mon album Picassa! Et j'ai pas vraiment trier non plus!

Halloween

Jeanne and Evan were terrified of this hanging head, which woke up and started moving and talking when they walked by. They almost ran away--I caught them and kept them at the door to get their candy.

Soccer

This morning on the way to the game, Evan said "Maman, I think this white team doesn't play very well." I tought him the term "trash-talking," said it's not very nice. He also asked me to cheer for him, very loudly, during the game. All I thought was, "that'll change soon..." and then I cheered for him. When I did sometimes he would glance at me and smile.

Ce matin en allant au match, Evan m'a dit, "Maman, je crois que les blancs ne jouent pas tres bien" [c'etais l'equipe blanche]. Je lui ai dis que ce n'est pas tres gentil. Il m'a demande aussi de crier tres fort pour lui, pendant le match. J'ai pense "ca ne va pas durer, ca..." et puis je criais "go Evan!". Parfois quand je l'ai fait il m'a regarde, il a sourit.

Evan's Poem Song

This morning, Evan wanted to write down his song/poem, that he's been singing over the past few days in various forms (but always with the same title). He wrote the title with my help, then I wrote down the rest. He said one phrase as a time and I transcribed, leaving new lines when he paused. This is purely Evan's work, I just wrote!

First soccer game...and more!

Premier match de foot, et plus!

Evan had his first soccer game yesterday morning. Go, Petits Bleus! The other team scored like crazy, but Evan was still convinced his team won. He didn't score any goals but he's pretty good on defense. I'm a true "soccer mom" now, I guess...

Evan a eu son premier match de foot hier matin. Allez, les Petits Bleus! L'autre equipe a marque des buts comme jamais, mais Evan etait convaincu que son equipe a gagne. Il n'a pas marque mais il est assez fort en defense.

After that, we went down to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, where my company's annual picnic was held. Evan is still too short for most things but he was able to go with me on: the pirate boat (after lunch--bleeeh), the haunted house (very scary for a 5-year-old), spinning car ride, spinning air-chair ride (oooh, I was dizzy!). Papa took Elia on the sky chair thing--like a ski lift that goes along the boardwalk. He was quite freaked out.

Apres ca, on est alle au Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, ou il y avait le pique-nique annuel de ma societe. Evan est encore trop petit pour plein de maneges mais il pouvait venir avec moi sur le bateau pirate (juste apres avoir mange...bleeeek), la maison hantee (ca fait tres peur a un enfant de 5 ans), et les voitures et chaises volantes qui tournent (oooh, j'avais la tete qui tournait!). Papa a emmene Elia sur les 'sky chairs'--il avait tres peur.

Cambria for Labor Day weekend

Let's start with some ham, shall we?

On commence par un jambon? ('jambon' en anglais, ca veut dire quelqu'un qui aime les photos...comme ca:)Guess who took that photo. Yup, it was Papa. (But of course it's Maman who actually made that apron!)

OK, here's Cambria. It was a bit cloudy and chilly the first day, but we walked over 6 miles, so we kept warm.
OK, voila Cambria. C'etait un peu froid le premier jour, mais on a marche plus que 10 kms, alors on s'est chauffe.

Oh, yeah, Evan couldn't really walk the entire 6 miles. He had to share the stroller with Elia, who bounced her 30 pounds crazily on his little knees (he's only 10 pounds heavier than she is!)
Oui, Evan ne pouvait pas vraiment marcher 10 kilometres. Il a du partage la poussette avec Elia, qui sautait avec ses 14 kilos, sur ses petits genoux (il ne pese que 4 kilos de plus qu'elle!)
Parade...
Running away from the waves... We ended up in the water eventually (brrr).
On s'echappe des vagues... On a finit dans l'eau apres peu de temps (brrr).

Downtown they had some little rides and things for the kiddies. Elia is STILL talking about the train and how she drove a car...
En centre ville ils avaient des petits maneges pour les enfants. Elia parle encore du train, et comment elle a conduit une voiture...
